I don’t know if it’s still the case (this picture is starting to get a bit old, I think I took it in 2006) but back then, in the Parisian metro, you could encounter this group of people playing classical music. It took place at Châtelet station (between line 4 and line 1), and I do admit that it made the place a bit less gloomy.

This is one of my favorite things of Paris, there is plenty of performed music just about everywhere.
True, most of them are as annoying as they are untalented (but I understand that a number of them do that to merely survive).
However, you also can find some true gems from time to time.
