Belvès in Summer

I won’t lie, I don’t know much about Belvès, this small village of 1,500 people in the Dordogne department. Most of my experiences with it was driving through it on my way to Sarlat, Les Eyzies or other places in the area.

But one day (in July 2011) I decided to stop and check it out a little.

It is considered with reason as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

I’m not sure I saw the pillory. Too bad.

I’m not exactly sure if such decorating of the town takes place every summer (a few festivals are being held) but it definitely was for the whole summer. I drove through town two months later and it was still there.

In any case, Belvès is one of the many places in Dordogne that is worth a visit.
