This is the way the Place de la Bastille looked about 100 years ago :

On the postcard, one can see the building that use to stand before the Opera Bastille was built. The July Column hasn’t changed since it was built in 1840. The building on the left side on the postcard hasn’t changed much since then.
I’ll tell you more about the history and the details of the Place de la Bastille at a later date, I just wanted to post this today to tell you that I’m heading to Paris tonight for a week, so I may not post much during that time (but maybe a little, who knows?)

I remembered that I gathered old stamps in my childhood.
Yes, the Bastille as you may already know, is a very important spot in French history, at least on a symbolical level. I will talk about it details at some point.
